The Hermitage Duo

The Hermitage Duo
(Vladimir Sedykh, balalaika, and Gregory Nisnevich, guitar)

The debut of The Hermitage Duo in 1996 immediately attracted the attention of music lovers. Even the most demanding and experienced audiences are charmed by the rich and expressive timbre of the two string instruments and the calibre of the musicians' professionalism. The ensemble's repertoire includes the best works of classical, romantic and Russian folklore music, as well as Jewish Klezmer and Latino music.

The musicians interpret Russian folk melodies with an impeccable sense of style and affection, showing the lyrical beauty and color of the music. Their arrangements of the 19th and 20 th century Russian composers lend a new perspective to this era. Israeli composer Jan Freidlin has composed music specifically for The Hermitage Duo.

Kostya Lermontov, another balalaikaist and member of the duo also performs on such authentic Russian instruments as Domra, Svirel and Rojok (authentic Russian wind instrument). The piece Kozak Rode over the Danube (Russian Folk Song) was recorded with guitar and svirel. For several years, Kostya Lermontov and Gregory were invited to participate in the Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival, performing all over the country.

In 2007, Vladimir Sedykh joined the duo and now plays with Gregory.

Vladimir brings incredible experience and an amazing performance resume to the mix.
