The unique feature of this duo is a wide variety of its repertoire. The duo was founded by Ilya Schwartz, clarinet, and Gregory Nisnevich, guitar, in 1989 to play Klezmer music, the music of East European Jews. However, musicians soon exceeded these bounds, and now their repertoire extends from Baroque and classical music to contemporary music of the 20th century. Ilya and Gregory have been highly acclaimed by audience and critics for their brilliant technique, impeccable taste and for bringing innovative interpretations to the traditional repertoire. The duo has performed throughout Europe at numerous festivals, including the Jerusalem Music Festival, the Tzfat Festival of Klezmer Music, the South Bohemia Music Festival and the Festival of Clarinet Music in Switzerland. The duo has represented Israeli music at official meetings at Jerusalem City Hall and Parliament of Israel. "immaculate taste and tremendous diapason of the repertoire of these
musicians" Ehud Olmert, Mayor of Jerusalem. |
